Consent Migration
Consent Migration is for websites moving from another CMP. It helps carry over clear previous choices when CleanCMP can safely read them.
What it does
On first CleanCMP load, the runtime can check supported previous CMP cookies. If a clear accepted choice is found, CleanCMP stores that as a normal CleanCMP consent record and skips showing a new banner.
Why it matters
Switching consent tools can create friction for returning visitors. Migration can reduce repeated prompts while keeping a new CleanCMP record of the migrated decision.
How to use it
Enable migration in Admin, choose the previous CMP format, publish, and test with a browser profile that has the old CMP cookie but no CleanCMP consent cookie.
What you get
- Read previous CMP cookies
- Create CleanCMP records
- Avoid unnecessary re-prompts
Use Consent Migration in CleanCMP
CleanCMP includes this feature in the same workspace as the scanner, banner builder, Consent Mode v2 mapping, reporting, and publish history.
